The success of an EV startup depends on the connected ecosystem like Incubation, Government support & initiatives, Homologation, Funding, Simulation Technology, Networking, Industry Experts support…etc to name a few. Altair Startup challenge 2021 attempts to address this via a consortium of partners. Altair has collaborated with the Confederation of Indian Industry - CII, Startup India, Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), and IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC) for Altair Start-up Challenge 2021 - For EVs. This is an initiative to connect to EV ecosystem leaders, create awareness of appropriate cutting-edge technologies, relevant processes, enable the start-ups to accomplish their goals of product development in a structured manner. This facilitates competency building and the development of competitive products.

Past Events: Altair Grand Challenge - 2019
Altair Grand Challenge, an initiative by Startup India & Altair India providing high-end technology access and mentorship to startups, concluded recently with 10 finalists chosen from a pool of 200+ participating companies.
Altair partnered with Startup India, a Government of India initiative, set up to build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship. Altair provides simulation and data analytics solutions in product design & engineering, used extensively by companies involved in developing highly engineered products in the field of automotive, aerospace & defense, heavy engineering, etc. Altair through this program extended access to these high-technology solutions to budding start-ups companies across the following industry sectors
- Land vehicles or platforms
- Air /Sea Vehicles or platforms
- Defense Industry - Robotics and Automation
- Data Science & Artificial Intelligence
- Healthcare/Medical Industry
- Green Technology
- Agriculture
Altair took the initiative to identify, support, mentor, and reward the budding startups with its Simulation, Optimization, and Machine Learning technologies in addition to providing a dedicated team of mentors to assist the start-ups in accomplishing their goals.
Altair would equip these startups with technology and mentorship categorized under the following domains,
- Simulation-Driven Product Design & Development
- Digital Twin
- Embedded systems.
The grand challenge involved startup companies identifying areas where they could best leverage Altair technologies for their products based on these listed domains. Awards for the top 3 winning teams included prize money as listed below, in addition to the technology access and mentorship.
- 1st Prize: $2500
- 2nd Prize: $1500
- 3rd Prize: $1000
Altair Grand Challenge Summary
A total of 206 applications were received, of which 33 were shortlisted in the first round. After subsequent screening rounds, 10 startups were selected as finalists to join the “Altair Grand Challenge”. Four winners were awarded, with top rank taken by Starya Mobility of Bengaluru, a tie between BlinkEYELABS Electronics, Bengaluru, & IndusTill FarmTech, Pune for the second spot and followed by Saif Automations Services LLP, Visakhapatnam.
