Altair - Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Co-Hosted Symposium on
Simulation for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

In Co-ordination with Sarojini Naidu Vanita Pharmacy Maha Vidyala

Untitled design-Sep-08-2022-04-13-18-87-PM-1

Efficient handling and processing of particulates are critical to the profitable manufacture of pharmaceutical products. Over 75% of all pharmaceutical products are in the solid dosage form and particulates are involved in almost every stage of the manufacturing process.

Particulate materials are ubiquitous in pharmaceutical manufacturing but exhibit complex mechanical behaviour and high sensitivity to ambient conditions while being subject to poorly understood stress states in processes that are largely experimentally opaque. Consequently, a diverse set of problems such as low dosing control, size and component segregation, unwanted attrition or agglomeration, non-uniform mixing, non-uniform compaction, tablet capping and chipping, and failure of process scale-up and others persist, increasing time to market and manufacturing costs. What is needed to overcome these challenges is insight beyond the one obtained through physical testing alone and this is where Altair EDEM simulation comes into play.

Why EDEM?

Industry leaders such as Pfizer, AbbVie, NovoNordisk, Vertex, Eli Lilly and others are using EDEM today to:

  • Obtain a new and deeper understanding of their processes
  • Inform design and scale-up
  • Reduce dependence on physical prototyping
  • Drive product and process innovation
  • Get products to market quicker
