What to Submit

 

The HAVE-TOs:

Solved Inspire model file and one Video outlining the optimization process and what you learned, that must include: Student Name or Team Name | Student’s/Team’s Current University | Altair product(s) used | Parameter(s) optimized | Amount of Improvement | Lessons learned |

Video requirements: Time limit: 5 minutes, Don't include copyrighted material (music, video, images, etc.) Min. 1 minute of the video must be devoted to a visual/graphical representation of your results.
 

The NICE-TO-HAVE:

Additional chance to win the Creative Prize too, Creative Promotion Video: 90 seconds max duration video, promote the contest and why it's valuable/exciting/ fun for you, the video must be posted on your YouTube channel (share link with your submission) Note the Video will not be accepted without an accompanying main project submission.

Judging criteria: Explanation of your optimization choice, Review the helpfulness of used Altair’s software and Creativity of the video.

What you can Win!

Amazing Prizes, Multiple Ways to Win*

To qualify, the submission must include all the required information stated in the "Contest Rules" and "What to Submit" sections. Students are encouraged to submit their entries early to increase their chances of winning.

Monthly Prizes

Starting in May 2023, Altair will award three monthly prizes of $750 to the most exceptional students from the North and South American (AMER), Europe, the Middle East, and African (EMEA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions. Each winner will receive their prize in their local currency.

Monthly Creative Presentation Video Winner

Each month, one creative presentation video will win a prize of $200. The videos will be judged based on creativity, originality, and quality. In these videos, we encourage students to think outside the box and showcase their unique skills.  

Monthly Wild Card Winner

Each month, a wildcard winner will be chosen at random from each region. The wild card winner will receive a prize of $100 in their local currency.

Global Grand Prize

At the end of the contest year, all first-prize winners from the three regions (36 total) will be automatically entered into the running for the global grand prize of $7,500. This prize recognizes the extraordinary performance of one exceptional student who has demonstrated excellence in their field and in their designs.

*All prize amounts are shown in USD and will be converted to the winners' local currency. Prizes will not be awarded in cash but will be provided in other non-cash alternatives (e.g. pre-paid credit cards, gift cards). For more information read the Terms & Conditions.

Read before you submit

Contest Rules

  1. Students must optimize a design of their choice showing a marked improvement in weight while maintaining structural integrity (other alternatives - efficiency, sustainability, or some other optimized feature).
  2. Students must use Inspire or another software found in Altair’s suite of tools.
  3. Students may enter as an individual or part of a team. There is no limit to team size, but the prizes awarded are per submission not per person.
  4. Students may enter each monthly contest once, but each submission must be unique.
  5. Students/Team(s) must agree for Altair to use their models and videos in promotional materials.
  6. All judging is at the discretion of Altair and all decisions made by Altair are final.
