MINING

Altair® EDEM™

EDEM is a high-performance software for bulk and granular material simulation. Powered by DEM, EDEM quickly and accurately simulates and analyzes the behavior of coal, mined ores, soils, fibers, grains, tablets, powders, and more. EDEM simulation provides engineers with crucial insight into how those materials will interact with their equipment during a range of operation and process conditions. It can be used stand-alone or combined with other CAE tools.

Leading companies in the heavy equipment, off-road, mining, steelmaking, and process manufacturing industries use EDEM to understand and predict granular material behaviors, evaluate equipment performance, and optimize processes.

Altair® MotionSolve®

MotionSolve is a tool designed to understand and optimize the performance of equipment under the influence of dynamic loads during mining processing.

The software analyzes the behavior of components at each moment of operation, evaluates and verifies the performance of different repair options, and solves dynamic multi-body problems (MBS).

Altair SimSolid®

SimSolid is the game-changing simulation software for multidisciplinary structural, dynamics, thermal, and fatigue analysis, setting a new standard in the industry. It's revolutionary approach allows individuals at all levels to perform analysis directly on full CAD assemblies in seconds to minutes, without the need for geometry simplification or meshing.

Offering support for practically all types of analysis required by the industry, Altair SimSolid is the ideal software to help with decision-making and validation throughout product development.

KOT

Increasing the Efficiency of Transfer Chutes with DEM Simulation

The efficiency and reliability of the stages of transferring fragmented material carried out by conveyors, chutes, reclaimers, crushers, and mills directly influence the productivity indices of mines and ore processing plants. Moreover, these stages are among the most costly in mining operations.

However, fragmented or granular materials have complex mechanical behavior, requiring the use of the Discrete Element Method (DEM), the most appropriate for this type of modeling.

KOT Engenharia, a reference in solutions for the mining sector, demonstrates in this webinar how EDEM software can be used to optimize the performance of equipment for handling and processing fragmented material.

VIBRACON

Optimizing Asset Management in Mining with Simulation

The use of multidisciplinary CAE is a great ally for engineers in carrying out quick, low-cost diagnoses and generating viable alternatives for corrective maintenance and renovation. However, it is essential to be able to select the most appropriate approaches when planning simulation studies.

In this webinar, experts from Altair and Vibracon will demonstrate the advantages of using multibody dynamics solutions when the finite element approach does not meet expected deadlines and correlation criteria.

NAVES

Increasing Safety in Mining Plants with Altair® EDEM™

Maximizing productivity in mining operations requires efficient infrastructure and logistics, as well as strategic decision-making based on accurate data. Ensuring greater efficiency in equipment handling is essential not only for improving productivity but also for maintaining operational safety in mining sites.

In this webinar, specialists from Altair and Naves Engenharia will present a case study on optimizing mining road networks, evaluating the possibility of using smaller fleets while meeting NR-22 regulations. Additionally, a sizing methodology for haul trucks will be demonstrated, utilizing a combined approach of Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) and the Discrete Element Method (DEM).

Naves is a consultancy company with a background in mining, offering innovative solutions to optimize infrastructure and operations. With extensive experience in the sector, the company supports strategic decision-making, boosting productivity and safety in mining operations.

Theoretical Basics of SimSolid, by Victor Apanovitch

SimSolid's computational engineering is based on an extension of the theory of external approximations. External approximations are a generalization of the Finite Element Method (FEM) in terms of:

  • Absolutely arbitrary geometric shapes can be used as “finite elements”.
  • The basis functions that approximate the field of interest in the “element” can be of arbitrary class and are independent of the shape of the “element”.
