Water wading tests form an integral part of an automotive development process and helps in determining the integrity of engine bay and underbody components in a vehicle. From rust formation on underbody components to failure of plastic parts and water exposure to critical engine components, water wading tests play an important role. This has only become critical with the emergence of Electric Vehicles where exposure to water determines the performance of sensors and durability of various electronic components.

Physical tests involve building high cost prototypes and they offer little scope over the kind of test data that engineers could acquire. While progress has been made in CFD in the past to simulate such tests, conventional CFD methods have fallen short in providing quick and accurate solutions to the engineering community. Altair’s SPH based nanoFluidX with its revolutionary GPU based CFD simulation technology and SimLab preprocessor allow users to setup and perform water wading simulations on fully detailed complex vehicle geometries within days. It gives a detailed picture with regards to water splash patterns, water contact areas and pressure forces acting on various components. In this webinar, we will introduce you to the simulation tools within the Altair software portfolio and showcase how nanoFluidX could be used to perform water wading simulations and analyze the results to improve vehicle design faster.

During this 45 minutes-webinar, you will learn:

  • The benefits and capabilities of GPU based SPH nanoFluidX solver:
  • Altair’s simple, seamless and quick workflow using SimLab.
  • How nanoFluidX provides a detailed picture of the water wading phenomenon.
