National Level Online Workshop Electromagnetic and Thermal Simulation of Electric Motors

May 07, 2020 | 10 AM – 4 PM - Register Today!

Discover the process and workflow of designing motors from a set of initial specifications to the complete characterization of the machine through an optimization process

Through this workshop, participants will be led on a discovery of the environment of Altair Flux through simple examples of PMSM motor. From the input of topologies to the analysis of results, through the setting of the physics, the mesh and the solving, the participant will perform simple or parameterized analysis of this motor.

The workshop covers fundamental finite element software Altair Flux for low-frequency electromagnetic and thermal simulations in Flux 2D, 3D & Skew.

AGENDA

Session 1:           10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

  • Pre-design of PMSM using FluxMotor.
  • Design and create motor from standard or customized parts, as well as to intuitively add windings and materials to run a selection of tests and compare machine behaviour.
  • The activity will be based on the design of permanent magnet machine, from the choice of topology, through the winding layout to the performances of the machine.
  • Export to Flux for FEA analysis.

Break:                 11:00 AM to 11.30 AM

Session 2:           11.30 AM to 1:00 PM

  • Complete design evaluation of the motor using Altair Flux.
  • Model setup in Flux and showing the tools to help with efficient modelling and workflow.
